Meet The Team

  • Jeff Baker, Owner & Head Coach

Jeff is the owner and head coach at Apex Training. He’s a Reno/Sparks local and thinks that this is a great community we get to call home. He’s definitely a social butterfly and loves to interact and connect with everybody in his life, especially his members. Not a day goes by when he isn’t cracking jokes, making insane faces, or showing off some pretty sweet dance moves. He always keeps you on your toes which adds a kind of freshness to class everyday.

His main goals are to get you functionally healthy and moving well, and that every day you leave the gym happier than when you showed up. He can’t wait to see you Become More at APEX.

  • Morgan Ross, CrossFit Coach

Morgan grew up in Reno, and began training as a gymnast at the age of 5. Her gymnastics journey led her to earn an NCAA gymnastics scholarship to the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she competed as a Division 1 athlete for four years while pursuing a BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Spanish. Following college, she spent three years coaching the University of Maryland women’s gymnastics team, concurrently working as a NASM certified personal trainer and nutrition coach while completing her masters in Biological Oceanography. After graduation, she relocated to Connecticut to coach the Yale women’s gymnastics team, and then to San Jose to coach the SJSU women’s gymnastics team, but now she’s thrilled to be back in her home town. Her journey with CrossFit began in the summer of 2021, and she’s since trained and coached at several gyms around the country.

  • Stephen Gapay

My philosophy on fitness was shaped by the wildland fire service. Over a seven year career as a firefighter, I learned that success is built on a foundation of discipline, mental toughness, and hard work.

As a lifelong athlete with competitive running experience, I apply a performance-driven mindset to help you achieve your goals, whether that's completing your first 5k or building elite functional strength. I believe in earning your results and will be there to guide you every step of the way.

When I’m not in the gym, I’m usually enjoying the outdoors—snowboarding, paddle boarding, or taking my dog out to enjoy all the wonderful surroundings we are so lucky to have here in Reno.

  • Crystal Carlin

My name is Crystal Carlin, I was born in San Diego, CA, moved to Reno in 1992. Started Strongman for fun in April 2019. I was in a very bad depression before I tried my first strongman class.  We were flipping 450lb Tractor tires in the back parking lot. The first time flipping that 459lb tire, I was exhilarated. I wanted to know what else I could do.  Ever since then, I've been competing in strongman and now coaching it.

  • Logan Schauer

    Meet Coach Logan
Logan Schauer, MA, CF-L1, PN1, SSRC, PPSC

Over the past 11+ years, Logan has helped hundreds of people of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels build strength, confidence, and healthier lifestyles. From beginners learning their first squat to seasoned athletes refining Olympic lifts, Logan brings both technical expertise and genuine care to every client she coaches.

Her certifications include Pain-Free Performance Training, Precision Nutrition, and Sleep, Stress & Recovery Management (PN), as well as a CrossFit Level 1 credential. She has additional training in biomechanics, Olympic Weightlifting, powerlifting, mobility, and gymnastics/calisthenics. She likes to help people learn #PartyTricks.

Logan’s philosophy is simple: fitness should be functional, challenging, and fun. She believes strength training is about more than just aesthetics. It’s about resilience, confidence, and having the energy to live the life you want. She knows firsthand how overwhelming stress, fatigue, and burnout can feel, which is why her coaching integrates smart training, recovery, and lifestyle habits to support both physical and mental health.

At the heart of Logan’s approach is connection. She’s passionate about being not just a coach, but also a support system and guide, helping people see what they can become rather than just where they are today.

Outside the gym, Logan loves music, culture, and exploring Reno’s food and coffee scene, and she’s happiest spending time with her friends, family, and dog-loving strangers.
